As we all know Darsharath, Lord Rama's father, died when Rama was on exile. Sita prepared all the items for the Shraadh but when the Brahmans come, she goes inside their hut.
After the Brahmans leave, Lord Rama asked why she went inside when the Brahmans came. Sita replied:
पिता तव मया दृष्यो ब्राह्मणंगेषु राघव।
दृष्टवा त्रपान्विता चाहमपक्रान्ता तवान्तिकात्।।
याहं राज्ञा पुरा दृष्टा सर्वालंकारभूषिता।
सा स्वेदमलदिग्धांगी कथं पश्यामि भूमिपम्।।
I saw my father-in-law in those Brahmans. My father-in-law has always seen me dressed up like a princess. How can he see me in this state? That is why I went in.
